The final floor of the Temple of Chaos Past with any Random Encounters is also the first with a truly wide variety. You will run into groups of Aeroses which can be hard to kill due to high Evasion, but can be run from. If you have high-level attack Spells left to use, now is the time, because Chaos will laugh off your offensive magic. Purple Worms appear here in larger numbers but still aren't a big deal. Large groups of Vampires can deal a lot of damage quickly, and a badly timed NulFire from their lord can ruin your plans to take them out. Stick with Dia Spells and Light Axes to take them down before they hurt you too much. Stone Golems are better at annoying you with Slow1 than actually killing anyone, but at this point you have enough Ribbons that someone should always be available to take them out. Doom Knights make their return here, sometimes appearing in pairs. Kill both quickly before either can cast Flare, because at this stage of the game you can't afford to take that much damage. Dragon Zombies with Vampire Lords appear here more frequently than before, and are another encounter perfectly capable of draining your resources. You will occasionally see large groups of Mindflayers, though at this level several of them may just turn and run. Be aware that Ribbons will not protect you from their attacks (not even Mind Blast), so don't take them lightly. Finally, the rare encounter is the only place in the game to find Iron Golems, and really that's the only thing noteworthy about them. If you see any, beat them down and be glad you don't need to go back and look for them.
